Banker

Set the bet each hole — others decide whether to take it or fold.

3–4 playersMedium complexityBetting optional

How to play

  • Before each hole, the designated Banker sets a point value for that hole (within a pre-agreed range).
  • Each other player independently decides whether to accept the bet or fold.
  • Players who accept play match play against the Banker for that hole. Players who fold sit the hole out.
  • The Banker plays against each accepting player individually — they can win or lose against each one separately.
  • The Banker role moves to the next player after each hole.
  • Tally wins and losses per player at the end. Net points determine who pays whom.

Example — hole 9, Tom is Banker

Tom sets the bet at 2 points. Ali accepts, Dana folds. Tom makes par, Ali makes bogey — Tom wins 2 points from Ali. Dana neither wins nor loses.

Setup — before you tee off

  1. 1Enter 3 or 4 player names and set a tee-off order (this sets the Banker rotation).
  2. 2Set the min and max bet the Banker can set each hole (e.g. 1–3 points).
  3. 3Set a point value (e.g. $1 per point).
  4. 4Each hole: log the Banker's chosen bet value, who accepted, and the hole result. The app tracks all the individual match-ups.

Pro tip

A smart Banker sets high bets on par 3s where they're confident, and low bets on holes that suit their opponents. The betting strategy is half the game.

Variations

Double or nothing

Any player can call 'double or nothing' after teeing off — win the hole and the bet doubles, lose and you owe double. Both players must agree.

Fixed bet

Remove the Banker's ability to vary the bet — every hole is the same value. Simpler, faster.
