How to play
- •Before the round, agree on which dots are in play and what each is worth.
- •Common dots: Birdie (score one under par), Sandy (par or better after being in a bunker), Greenie (closest to pin on a par 3, and making par or better), Chippy (chip-in for par or better), Ferdie (par from the fairway after a penalty stroke).
- •Dots are earned individually — multiple players can earn dots on the same hole.
- •Count dots at the end. Each dot is worth the agreed value. Net dots (difference) determines payout between players.
Example — end of round
Mike earned 5 dots, Sarah earned 2 dots. At $1 per dot, Mike wins $3 from Sarah (5 − 2 = 3 net dots). Each pairing settles separately.
Setup — before you tee off
- 1Enter player names.
- 2Select which dots are active for this round — choose from the standard list or add custom ones.
- 3Set a value per dot (e.g. $1).
- 4After each hole, tap any dots earned by each player. The app tracks totals and calculates payouts at the end.
Pro tip
Dots works brilliantly as an add-on to Skins or Nassau — it keeps things interesting on holes where the main game is already decided.
Variations
Sandy
Make par or better after your ball is in a bunker at any point on the hole.
Greenie
Closest to the pin in regulation on a par 3 — and you must make par or better to collect.
Chippy
Chip the ball in from off the green for par or better.
Ferdie
Make par from the fairway after taking a penalty stroke.
