Wolf
Pick a partner each hole — or go it alone for double points.
Exactly 4 playersMedium complexityBetting optional
How to play
- •Before the round, set a tee-off order: players 1, 2, 3, 4. This order rotates the Wolf role — player 1 is Wolf on hole 1, player 2 on hole 2, and so on. On hole 5 it resets to player 1.
- •Each hole, all four players tee off in order. After each player hits, the Wolf decides immediately whether to pick that player as a partner — before the next player tees off.
- •Once the Wolf passes on a player, they cannot go back and pick them later.
- •If the Wolf hasn't picked anyone after all three others have teed off, they must go it alone as Lone Wolf.
- •The Wolf (and partner, if chosen) compete against the other two. Best ball format — lowest score on each side wins the hole.
- •Lone Wolf: if the Wolf wins the hole alone, they score double points. If they lose, each opponent scores double.
Example — hole 3, Sarah is Wolf
Tom hits first — Sarah passes. Jake hits a great drive — Sarah picks Jake immediately as her partner. They play best ball against Tom and Mia. Sarah and Jake win the hole.
Setup — before you tee off
- 1Enter all four player names.
- 2Set or randomize the tee-off order — this determines who is Wolf on each hole.
- 3Set a point value per hole (e.g. 1 point = $1), or play for fun.
- 4On hole 17 and 18, the Wolf may declare Blind Wolf before anyone tees off — going solo with triple points on the line.
- 5Enter each hole result. The app tracks who the Wolf picked, the outcome, and running points totals.
Pro tip
The Wolf's toughest decision is whether to pick early after a great drive, or wait to see if the next player hits something better. That tension is what makes Wolf so fun.
Variations
Blind Wolf
The Wolf declares they're going solo before anyone tees off. If they win, points triple. High risk, high reward — usually reserved for holes 17 and 18.
Pig
After being picked as a partner, a player can reject it and become the Wolf's opponent. If the Pig's team wins, they earn a bonus point.
No Lone Wolf
If the Wolf doesn't pick anyone, the last player to tee off is automatically their partner. Removes the solo gamble for groups who prefer team play.
